Which Nest should I choose?
Choosing the right Nest depends on the size of your ant colony. The Small Nest is ideal for starter colonies with 1-30 ants, depending on the species. The Medium Nest is better suited for colonies that need more space, typically ranging from 30-150 ants. The Large Nest is designed for larger colonies with 150+ workers. Keep in mind that different ant species have varying space requirements due to their size. As your colony grows, you can easily expand their habitat by adding another Nest module.
Do you sell ants?
No, we do not sell ants. However, there are many reputable ant stores where you can purchase ants, or you can try to find ants in nature if it is permissible in your area. Always make sure to follow local laws and regulations, and treat all natural habitats and insects with respect.
Where do you ship your formicaria, and what are the shipping times?
We ship our formicaria internationally. Shipping times vary depending on your location. For orders within Sweden, delivery usually takes 1-3 days. For other European countries and the US, please allow a few extra days for delivery. We strive to pick and pack orders as quickly as possible to ensure timely shipping.
Do I need anything else besides the Nest?
Yes, in addition to the Nest, you will need an outworld where the ants can forage. We also recommend a liquid feeder, particularly for providing sugar water, which is essential for the health of your ant colony.
What ant species does this formicarium work for?
The Nest Formicarium is suitable for almost all ant species commonly kept by ant enthusiasts. The only exceptions are certain exotic species, such as weaver ants, which require a very high level of humidity that this formicarium may not be able to provide.
Can I return my products?

Are the products suitable for kids?
Yes, our products are suitable for kids, but adult supervision is always recommended. Please be aware that the Nest Formicarium contains small parts that could pose a choking hazard to young children.

We've gathered the measurements of all Nest sizes here for you. When buying a Nest you do not have to buy any extra Antgates, unless you have very specific connection needs. For normal usage, they are all included. The same goes for the sponges.

All three sizes of Nest work seamlessly together. They form a perfect shell-like shape when they are all assembled, but they can be arranged however you like. You can build your own version and create something unique.
Nest formicaria are built to be connected directly to our Outworld. But you can also connect to other brand's outworlds with vinyl tubing. Just attach the tubing to our "Antgate Tube" product and then connect the pieces.

I couldn't find a more well-thought and elegant outworld anywhere. Antkeepers are absolutely the best. My ants enjoy this outworld. And I enjoy decorating it. I recommend safe non-plastic decorations for fish. Ants like to explore them.
Aesthetically very nice, the print seems well-made and durable.
Slight downsides include the price and the assembly of some components, which isn't very precise, but nothing that can't be fixed with a few adjustments.
I'll buy again when the colony expands.

This outworld is a great addition to any any keepers stash. Well constructed and designed. Seemelessly integrates with the formicariums sold by ant keepers, or even other types when connected via vinyl tubing. I’ve purchased several of the products from ant keepers, and I am going to continue to buy them in the future!
I've just ordered this, so my review is a first impression, I can't yet speak about its long term use.
Regardless, It has impressed me!
Visuals: The product looks very good, much more appealing than a simple glass or plastic container. The lid and connecting formicaruim are very interesting to look at and have a lot of character over the usual square ones found online. The red glass covers are a nice addition to the formicaruim, allowing for easy viewing of the ants while not disturbing them too much.
Dimensions: these are as described but the measurements of the outworld seem to be excluding the lid and connecting ports. So it's a few cm bigger than advertised, but no complaints there!
(I've put a British £2 coin in the photo for scale)
Quality: the build appears strong and durable, the connections / lid fit very snuggly, a perfect match and it feels like good quality when handling it.
Longevity: as previously stated, this is just a first impression but I really like their additional port on the other side of the outworld which would make adding more formicaruims and outworlds easy. They also have different adaptors, one that is direct to their existing products and also a pipe connector so you can add their products to something else if needed.
Postage and communication from the seller: Excellent on both accounts. I was aware of when my package had set off and was sent tracking info. It arrived slightly earlier than expected too. The product arrived well wrapped and in excellent condition.
Cons: the opening into the outworld is a little small, so I had to use tweezers to decorate and I will have to do the same with feeding the ants. Not to worry though as the additional feeding tray supplied comes with a convenient long handle for easier access. I'm not 100% sure how easy it would be if I had to clean inside the outworld, again I presume tweezers would be needed.
I'm a little worried about disturbing the ants by opening the ports on the formicaruim to add water. Though these are easy enough to open and a very nice touch. If I were being really picky I would have had a small hole in the top of them to put water in via a syringe. It would have been a nice touch, but regardless, I love the easy access idea and ability to replace the sponge if needed.
Overall: a brilliant product, I would highly recommend it. I'm very happy with all the major aspects of this and I will be happy to purchase from ant keepers again in the future.

I had taken the dimensions of the product and made some custom decorations. They fit perfectly. It looks really nice for my ants. I like how the lid looks like a cloud. I was using some tubing to connect my test tube to the nest and the queen ant ran directly into the nest, took one look at it and started moving her brood inside. Fantastic ant home!
