Which Nest should I choose?
Choosing the right Nest depends on the size of your ant colony. The Small Nest is ideal for starter colonies with 1-30 ants, depending on the species. The Medium Nest is better suited for colonies that need more space, typically ranging from 30-150 ants. The Large Nest is designed for larger colonies with 150+ workers. Keep in mind that different ant species have varying space requirements due to their size. As your colony grows, you can easily expand their habitat by adding another Nest module.
Do you sell ants?
No, we do not sell ants. However, there are many reputable ant stores where you can purchase ants, or you can try to find ants in nature if it is permissible in your area. Always make sure to follow local laws and regulations, and treat all natural habitats and insects with respect.
Where do you ship your formicaria, and what are the shipping times?
We ship our formicaria internationally. Shipping times vary depending on your location. For orders within Sweden, delivery usually takes 1-3 days. For other European countries and the US, please allow a few extra days for delivery. We strive to pick and pack orders as quickly as possible to ensure timely shipping.
Do I need anything else besides the Nest?
Yes, in addition to the Nest, you will need an outworld where the ants can forage. We also recommend a liquid feeder, particularly for providing sugar water, which is essential for the health of your ant colony.
What ant species does this formicarium work for?
The Nest Formicarium is suitable for almost all ant species commonly kept by ant enthusiasts. The only exceptions are certain exotic species, such as weaver ants, which require a very high level of humidity that this formicarium may not be able to provide.
Can I return my products?

Are the products suitable for kids?
Yes, our products are suitable for kids, but adult supervision is always recommended. Please be aware that the Nest Formicarium contains small parts that could pose a choking hazard to young children.
There is nothing as beautiful as Nest on the market today. All sizes are delicately designed to resemble natural ant nests. Our vision is for you to take these and then create your amazing miniature world from it, by combining the sizes to your liking together with our Outworld.

We've gathered the measurements of all Nest sizes here for you. When buying a Nest you do not have to buy any extra Antgates, unless you have very specific connection needs. For normal usage, they are all included. The same goes for the sponges.

All three sizes of Nest work seamlessly together. They form a perfect shell-like shape when they are all assembled, but they can be arranged however you like. You can build your own version and create something unique.
Nest formicaria are built to be connected directly to our Outworld. But you can also connect to other brand's outworlds with vinyl tubing. Just attach the tubing to our "Antgate Tube" product and then connect the pieces.

I love the design of this Water Hub. The water tower slots in easily, and the whole structure is incredibly well thought out. Its size perfectly matches the Small Nest Formicarium, making it an ideal pairing for an emerging colony.

I was wondering, would it be suitable to use with the nectar you supply, or is that best saved fort the feeders? Thought it could be cool to have one water one on the Nest Max and then a feeder on the water hub. :)
The products are brilliant the way they integrate into a single system that is very straightforward to setup.
The support is incredible, they had a massive influx in customers during the winter period in late 2025 and they communicated delays exceedingly well.
Overall I love the out world and nest that's I purchased. I have a small colony and the medium next is the perfect size.
My colony is not yet very big (about 50) but I can say for sure that my girls adore this part of their dwelling. Adelaida the Mother now lives there and made it a kids' room. I add water once per week and highly recommend this thingy. Will buy another one when the time comes.
This water hub is basically a tiny spa resort for my ants. My colony now stays more hydrated than I do. It's easy to refill, doesn't leak, and my ants act like it's the best thing that ever happened to them. 10/10 - stay hydrated, tiny kings and queens!

I love the designs of the nests and the outworlds
I just got this and at first goance it seems very good. The only problem is that I’d like to block all the light from entering the nest. I’ve used aluminium foil for my nests, but the shape of this nest makes that a bit more difficult to cut a good piece of it and keep it in place. Otherwise the quality seems great.

Another great product from Antkeepers, with similar focus on great aesthetics and well design gates. I had a major issue though with the internal turning mechanism - I cannot use the gear to turn the internal walls and it gets caught frequently. As a result I was shaking the ant colony just to move it and accidentally decapitated an ant because the wheel moves inconsistently. I had to instead remove the outer gear wheel and manually move the inner wheel underneath instead. It's not a coincidence as I have two of these and they're all the same - it appears there's something inherently wrong with the gear mechanism on this one because all others work no problem.
This is such a neat add on, that I had to email them to add it to my order as I saw it after I ordered! Definitely worth it.
The ants haven't appreciated it yet, as they still haven't moved from their test tube, but Im sure they will love the extra humidity it gives off.

While putting together a first kit with my son with multiple vendors. I wouldn’t know this waterhub would sell out in 2 days or that it be so loved by him. (After all it’s just a waterhub station thing I’d had believed.
All the other stations & sizes from other vendors not nearly as effective, ease & modular, perfect as this reasons unknown.
Wish I could tell you exactly why it is preferred by the colony, too.

This Nest Water hub is awesome! I was really happy that its water supply held out for a while (no more refilling my ants' water every ten minutes 😁). It also has its own set of revolving doors so adventurous ants don't escape while attaching other Nest modules to it!
